[VPAAEtal] Alternative Grading System

Students and Faculty:

What a month it has been, for all of us.  So much upheaval and uncertainty, and so many adjustments. We appreciate your patience and sticking with us through it all.  We will all come out the other side together. Part of that means working

hard to see to it that circumstances beyond their control do not cause harm to our students, even as we try to ensure a quality education in trying times. Accordingly, the University has adopted for this semester only an optional S/U grading

system.  The details, along with a FAQ, are attached. This is a step being taken in some variation by institutions all over our nation.  We have looked at various examples to craft one uniquely helpful for our students and also tried to ensure

that it does not burden faculty in its implementation. Students, put all you can into your coursework now, and set your sights on what you want for your future.
