It's that time of year again, textbook adoptions for May Mini, Summer I, Summer II, and Fall 2017 are due! In order to get the best prices set for our students, the bookstore needs to know what textbooks you're using in the Summer and Fall 2017 terms. The due date for these textbook adoptions is April 15th.

*         Step-by-step instructions on using our online system

What to know how to lower the cost of the textbooks for your course?
Quick Five ways to lower text costs presentation is attached, but we'd thought we post the #1 way below as everyone begins turning in adoptions:


1.         Don't forget to use the correct recommendation setting when turning in text decision:



REC- Recommended


RQ- Required


OF- Optional Format


Should be used for texts that have no assignments


Should be used for texts containing assignments or material students will be tested on


Should be used for texts containing assignments, and can be used in place of the required text if needed


  *   Books students will use in the field of their choice
  *   Books to help students with understanding concepts
  *   Study guides tied to the required text (that do not have assignments)


*         If an instructor assigns problems found only in a book, that book edition must be submitted as "required". Also, be sure to note it on your turn-in to the bookstore! This is in case there are different editions available.

*         If everything assigned can be found in a hand-out or PowerPoint given to students, the text is no longer "Required" but "Recommended"


  *   E-books
  *   Older editions
  *   Loose-leaf, paperback or hardback versions of the book assigned
  *   With or without access code packages




Not using a book?
If students will not need to purchase books for your class, let us know! We will mark your class as "No Text Required" on our website. This will help eliminate confusion and cut down on questions when each semester begins.

However, if your course requires a book students cannot purchase directly through the bookstore (web access products bought directly from the vendor, etc.), this does not qualify as "No Text Required". Even if the bookstore does not sell the product, the bookstore will still need this information to load onto the site per the Higher Education Opportunity Act. Just drop a note that it's an OER (Open Education Resource), so the bookstore can list that as well.

How do I submit textbook adoptions?
            You can do any of the following:

*         Email them to textbooks at tamuc.edu<mailto:textbooks at tamuc.edu>

*         Fax them to 903-886-3478

*         Submit via website by clicking the link for Faculty Adoptions<http://www.amcbookstore.com/FacultyAdoption/FacultyAdoption/>

What information does the bookstore need?

*         Department/Course/ Section (submit "EDCI.513.001" not "C&I for Elementary Math CRN# 480021" due to system limitations)

*         Instructor name

*         Author | Title | Edition | ISBN (most Important!) | Publisher
