Faculty Colleagues:

Drs. Peer, Hendrix, Palmer and I recently met with each college dean and
their department heads on SACS matters and an introduction of Dr. Marila
Palmer, our new SACS liaison. We discussed in some depth the provost's
as well as Dr. Palmer's concerns that SACS has increased its scrutiny of
faculty qualifications. Concerns in this arena (SACS Standard 3.7.1) are
to be carefully reviewed by both department heads and deans and
unresolved concerns referred to the provost. The provost will either
resolve it at that point or forward to Dr. Palmer for her consideration
and final resolution.

Extremely important that faculty understand past SACS' reviews included
only samplings of faculty credentials, while the new process is done
electronically "off-site" and includes a review of all faculty
credentials. Thus, the information we are supplying them in compliance
with 3.7.1 includes faculty credentials for all Fall 2012 and Spring
2013 courses. Included are required hyperlinks for faculty CV's,
official transcripts, certifications/licenses, syllabi and course
schedules, all of which are now standard expectations of SACS off-site
reviews.

Accordingly, we will soon complete the process of scanning, (while
redacting SSN's and DOB's) and indexing data on 750++ faculty; including
CV's, Credential forms 1 and 2, and other qualifications such as
professional licenses and certifications. [ Note: Those faculty using
licensure or certification status as part of their teaching
qualifications are asked to scan and send the relevant document(s) to
your department head who is asked to forward all faculty
licensure/certification documentation in the department to April Barnes
in this office by February 25, 2013. Department heads preparing to
forward such data are respectfully requested, prior to doing so, to
consult April at ext.5126 for further directions. ]

We will soon adopt a new software program (Xitracs) to assist us during
our SACS review. If you are interested in learning more about the
program, check out their link, http://www.xitracs.com/. Meanwhile, we
are playing "catch-up" and need as much help and cooperation as you are
able to provide. We remain confident we will complete the challenge of
capturing all the data and importing it into appropriate formats within
the next 60 days. In order to do that, we need your documentation by
February 25, 2013. After we load the full program data, we will keep
you posted if we need your further assistance. In the meantime, know
that we sincerely thank you for helping us collect the faculty data
required in this important matter.

Further questions are welcome in this office, your department head's as
well as your dean's.
