[VPAAEtal] Dr. Zakrajsek's Visit

As announced by Provost Peer at the last university community update,
President Jones has transferred responsibility for developing our first
faculty development center from the SACS' Steering Committee to the
Office of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.  Accordingly,
we are hosting a national expert on the topic of faculty development
next week, Dr. Todd Zakrajsek from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill.  Interim Provost Peer invites participation of all
interested campus personnel in Dr. Zakrajsek's visit, Tuesday and
Wednesday, February 26, 27.   Dr. Zakrajsek will be sharing his views on
the topic of best practices in faculty development and faculty
development centers as well as tips and suggestions for institutions
establishing such centers. The itinerary for his visit is attached.  

 

Please note scheduled sessions with the Academic (Deans) Council;
Academic Department Heads; Faculty Senate; the Faculty Development
Center Advisory Committee; the Faculty Center for Teaching & Technology
(FCTT); and relevant other campus officials, including President Jones.
The provost has asked that particular attention be drawn not only to
those meetings but two "OPEN" sessions with Dr. Zakrajsek as well, on
Tuesday, February 26.

 

The two "Open Sessions" from 11:00 a.m. - Noon,  and 3:15 p.m. - 4:15
p.m. , Tuesday 2/26, will be in McDowell 290.  They are open to anyone
(faculty, students, staff, administrators) interested in the topic of
best practices in faculty development and faculty development centers.
A recognized authority on the topic, Dr. Z.'s presentations are known
for being excellent summaries of what has been learned throughout higher
education regarding this important topic, while also including time for
Q and A with those in attendance.  

 

We hope all interested parties will find a spot on Dr. Zakrajsek's
itinerary enabling you to hear his remarks and interact with him during
the Q&A.
