Hi,

I am at the high school level, and we are having this problem with some of the universities who aren't using the Quick N Easy extract. When a high school sends a transcript to colleges there are several status codes that are indicated on our TREx system; arrived, canceled, completed, rejected, & accepted. When some schools pick up the files from SPEEDE, the status changes from arrived to completed. That lets the high school know that you have received the record and are processing it. If the status doesn't change it will drop off our listing in 10 days as canceled. The high schools have no way of knowing if it is truly canceled or if you have received the transmission and are storing it on a server.

Another complaint that we at the high school level have heard from you, is the sub-scores for TAKS are not appearing on the transcript. If this is something that you require for admissions purposes, please contact the TEA helpdesk @ TREx at tea.state.tx.us and let them know that you need this information to be included in the next update to the program. The more urgent the request, the sooner it may be acted upon by TEA and NTC. Here at NEISD, we want to work with any of you who need to test, or just discuss some of the challenges that everyone is facing using TREx for sending transcripts. We have participated since the inception of TREx, and still process almost 1000 transactions per week for student records and transcripts.

I hope this gives you some insight to one of the problems the high schools are experiencing, and know that we are wanting to help you get what you need from the high school side.

I appreciate any input that you can provide us.

Thanks,

Dillie

Another question for the SPEEDE list serve:

Has anyone else had high schools contact you about not receiving confirmations/acknowledgments on TREx transcripts they sent?

I know the TEA sends a tracking number in an NTE segment on the TS130 (example: NTE**TREx tracking number D0000281497~), but we have not included it in our acknowledgment back. We are only using the BGN02 "Reference Identification" segment for identification of the TS130 data received.

We are not expected to try and include this note in our 131's, are we? In reviewing the PESC guide, I do not see us having the option to include an NTE segment even if we wanted to.

As always, I appreciate any input you can provide.

Bobby et al - Some schools do depend on colleges sending the TS131 back,
which is indeed the protocol.

The TS131 format is very streamlined, with just certain key segments
included. I don't believe these extra notes may be included in the
acknowledgment without violating the syntax. NTC, however, should be
able to identify the transcript based on the other information.
