Dear University Community

I write to thank you for your cooperation and support for campus efforts to right the ongoing coronavirus epidemic. As the pandemic intensifies across state and nation, and as we approach the close of the semester, I want us to finish strong and safe.

As agreed at the start of the semester, we are observing the original academic calendar-meaning start and close of the semester. However, faculty have the option of ending their course at Thanksgiving break or going fully online at that time for the remainder of the semester. Final grades will be due according to the regular semester schedule.

Students, this means you need to consult with each of your instructors to find out their plans for the close of the semester. You may find that some professors will stick it out in-person through the remainder of our fall; some may go online; some may end the day before Thanksgiving. Individual professors are empowered to make that decision for their courses.

Continue to follow campus protocols regarding social distancing and masking, and please practice these in your off-campus activities in the days ahead.

Stay safe, and Go Lions!

John Humphreys, Provost
