[Students] The Mayo Review - Open Mic Nights

[Kim Jefferies]

Hello,

The Fall semester has started and this means a new year of
Open Mic Nights and another publication of The Mayo Review!
The Mayo Review is a literary journal run by the Department of
Literature and Languages that publishes artwork, prose,
drama, and poetry by people at the University and from
around the country. The Mayo Review offers people at our
University the chance to both perform and publish original
work they have created while also fostering an environment
in which these people can come together to share their
ideas.

We have a great staff this year and we are excited to see
what kind of material our events produce, both in The Mayo
Review and at Open Mic Nights, through our organization.

Here are a couple of events to mark down in your calendar:

Open Mic Nights -
09/08/11 @ The Club from 7:30pm to 9:30pm
09/22/11 @ Cowhill Express from 7:30pm to 9:30pm
10/06/11 @ The Spot from 7:00pm to 9:00pm

The submission deadline for 2012 Edition of The Mayo Review
is: November 15, 2011. Submission guidelines can be found
at: themayoreview.wordpress.com.

Also, teachers should encourage their students to
participate in Open Mic Nights or submit their material to
The Mayo Review. It is a great opportunity for students to
develop their creative writing skills or have a chance at
publishing material they have worked on without the
expectations or burdens of writing for a class.
