RE: Honoring the Memory of Those Who Lost Their Lives on
the Virginia Tech Campus

Governor Rick Perry has issued a proclamation that encourages all Texans to
join with the people of Virginia in a bell-ringing ceremony at 11:00 a.m. as
a part of their state day of mourning. In response to the Governor's
decree, the university chimes will ring at 11:00 today and each person is
asked to stand in place and observe a moment of silence.

Also, at 11:30 a.m. on the East Lawn, MSC, campus ministries and local
clergyman from surrounding churches will conduct a prayer vigil in honoring
the memory of those who lost their lives on the Virginia Tech campus. The
service will continue until 12:15 p.m. to accommodate class schedules.

A second banner has been placed on the first floor of the Sam Rayburn
Memorial Student Center to provide for additional signatures and sympathy
messages from our University community. Your outpouring of support will
mean so much to those students, faculty and administrators who are trying to
cope with this unimaginable event. Please stop by the Texas Bookstore and
pick up an orange and maroon lapel ribbon to wear in support of our Virginia
Tech friends.
