“Senate Bill 17, recently signed into law by Governor Abbot, prohibits individuals from countries identified as national security threats by the US Director of National Intelligence from purchasing or acquiring an interest in real property in Texas. Currently the countries of concern identified include China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia. Individuals who are citizens of countries of concern but are also US citizens or permanent residents of the US are exempt.
