Hello Yasemin,

After hearing concerns from both Faculty Senate and the Academic Department Heads Council, we revised the Department Head evaluation procedure. We removed the assessment instruments from the process as they are not specified in the procedure. The assessment instruments will be worked on once the procedure is approved.

We added 1.1.7 and we removed department heads from the Academic Administrator Evaluation procedure (also attached) as the evaluation fits better in the current procedure.

Two versions of the policy are attached. The Word document shows changes we made; the .pdf is a “clean” copy in case the group prefers to read it.

We wanted to ensure everyone has a chance to read the document, and we will be present on May 7th at the Faculty Senate meeting to address any continuing concerns. A copy has also been sent to the Department Heads’ Council for their continuing concerns and a potential vote.

If possible we would like the Faculty Senate to vote on whether or not to approve the policy at the May 7th meeting, provided we are able to answer any lingering questions.
