[NewIntlStudents] orientation reminder

[New International Students]

International student orientation is on Thursday, August 26 in the
Performing Arts Center.  The orientation is mandatory for all new
international students.  It will begin at 8:30am and students will need
to be prepared to be in sessions and activities until around 3-3:15pm.
After 3-3:15pm students will be escorted to their academic departments
for any advising and course registration.  Please arrive at 8:15am so
you may sign-in and receive your orientation packet.  DO NOT BE LATE!!!
Students coming from outside Commerce (Dallas/Fort Worth area) need to
leave early to ensure you will be on time for orientation.  

 

We will have refreshments available in the morning and the ISSO is
providing a free lunch in the student center in the Club as part of
orientation from 12-1pm that will be attended by the university
administration and faculty/staff.  There will be vegetarian options for
students with special dietary needs.

 

In the morning we will also have a student organization fair where
students may meet with representatives from different cultural and
religious groups on campus.  We tentatively will have students from the
Association of International Students, Chinese (Taiwan) Student
Association, Caribbean Student Association, Indian Student Association,
religious student groups (Muslim and Christian), and representatives
from Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh.  There are other groups
represented on-campus but I have been unable to secure their attendance.
