[Journalism] Fall Scholarship Opportunity

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR THE FALL SEMESTER OF 2014

The Journalism Division has been granted permission to re-open competition for THE BEVERLY AND STALEY MCBRAYER SCHOLARSHIP.

Funds are available for Journalism Division majors in news, public relations and the secondary certification in journalism.

It is important, however, that you read this notice carefully and that you follow the criteria for this scholarship.  If you fail to submit ALL of the criteria for the scholarship to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, you cannot be considered for an award by the Journalism Division faculty.  PLEASE READ AGAIN!

This notice about the scholarship may be a bit long but read it closely.

The Beverly and Staley McBrayer endowment is open to current Journalism Division majors and journalism sequence minors in good standing at the University.

The criteria from the scholarship office say the student must submit two letters of recommendation "from outside the journalism faculty or from professional media personnel."  Also, submit a two-page, double-spaced statement of career plans, why you choose this career, and send a list of Journalism Division courses to be taken in the fall of 2014.

Finally, attach a copy of your Degree Works; the criteria say transcript.  A copy of your Degree Works is acceptable.  I have checked with Ms. Crystal Thomas about that criterion.

The amount of any scholarship can vary and depends upon available funds at the time of award.  We have funds for this award.

The scholarship will be open until July 29, 2014.
