[Journalism] Scholarship opportunity.

I have reached an agreement with Ms. Maria Ramos to open the Beverly and
Staley McBrayer endowment for possible grants to JOURNALISM MAJORS for
the SPRING TERM of 2013.

 

            The process should be open by November 29, 2012.

 

            This is being undertaken as a courtesy to students by the
Journalism Division and the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office.  It is
a departure from the procedures usually mandated.

            IF you wish to be considered for a possible award, you must
follow the criteria listed on the page of the Financial Aid and
Scholarship Office and SUMBIT an application by 5 p.m. December 14,
2012. Applications will be forwarded to the journalism faculty for
review. 

 

            Eligible majors are those on the news-editorial sequence,
the public relations sequence, and the secondary education sequence with
journalism as a teaching field. Radio-TV majors are not eligible, nor
are majors in other fields. The McBrayer funding was established to
support journalism majors.

 

            When you look at the criteria, please note that Ms. Ramos
says a Degree Works document will suffice for the transcript. But, also
note that the criteria, which the journalism faculty cannot waive,
require letters of recommendation from outside the journalism faculty
and a two-page, double-spaced essay. You are also to furnish a list of
journalism courses for which you are enrolled in the spring semester of
2013. 

 

            REPEAT:  THESE CRITERIA MUST BE MET AND BY THE DEADLINE.

 

            The number and amounts of scholarships will be determined by
the journalism faculty.
