>From Dr. Bridges to Journalism students:

Any journalism student wishing to fulfill his or her internship credit
(Journalism 495) this summer must

(1) get a packet from Dr. Bridges if an internship is already secured
and

(2) submit the required paperwork to Dr. Bridges for approval BEFORE he
or she will be allowed to enroll in J495, Summer I.

If you do not have approval, you will be removed from the class.

If you need help in leads about internships, please see Dr. Bridges, Mr.
Stewart or Ms. Barton, and we will try to help. And, you may talk with
other students who sometimes know of opportunities.

Enrollment in J495 should be for the first summer term even if the
student will not finish the work experience during that time frame or if
the internship is to be completed during July and August. An incomplete
grade (X) can be granted, and the grade changed later once the work is
finished. Please see Dr. Bridges with any questions.

Several students have already secured excellent internship opportunities
for the summer of 2011. It is a good time to undertake such an
experience. But, you must have an approved internship of substance. Go
for the best one possible considering your circumstances. Off-campus
internships are better than on-campus, although the latter will be
considered.
