Journalism Division Scholarship Announcement / Posted April 7, 2011

 

The Journalism Division has been honored with the Frank Mayborn Award of
the Texas Daily Newspaper Association through the generosity of Mr.
Patrick Canty, publisher of The Odessa American and an alumnus of this
University.

 

Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2011.
Documents requested must be submitted to Journalism Building, Room 126,
Ms. Susan Osgood, Mr. Fred Stewart or Dr. Lamar Bridges by that date.
Please note this deadline!

 

Two (2) awards of $1,500 will be given to two students who meet the
criteria below. Recipients will be selected by the journalism faculty,
and their decisions will be final. Criteria have been discussed with a
TDNA representative and with the University's Financial Aid and
Scholarships Office. 

 

Criteria:

1.      full-time student at A&M-Commerce

2.      junior- or senior-level status

3.      junior- or senior-level student who is an active staff member of
The East Texan and a news-editorial sequence major in good standing at
the University

4.      BPA of 2.5 or higher*

 

Submit a statement indicating you wish to apply for one of the two
awards and attach a minimum of three (3) stories (clips) produced for
and published by The East Texan. Indicate your work for the student
newspaper.

 

The award is for the 2011-2012 academic year at A&M Commerce. The TNDA
will process paperwork for the student through University offices in
co-operation with the Journalism Division.
