[Intl-stu] Registration Schedule and other important information

[International Students]

Registration for May Mini, Summer, and Fall semesters will begin soon
and we wanted to remind you that all international students are required
to submit proof of medical and repatriation/evacuation insurance for
each registered semester.  Registration for graduate students will begin
on Monday, March 23rd at 8am right after spring break (see schedule
below).  To ensure that your insurance hold will be waived in time for
you to register on Monday, March 23, you will need to submit proof of
insurance by Friday, March 13 at 1:00pm.  Any proof of insurance
submitted after 1pm on Friday, March 13 may not be removed until after
spring break.  

 

Proof of insurance may be submitted via fax to 903-468-3200, in person
at the ISSO in BA350, or by emailing intl_stu at tamu-commerce.edu
<mailto:intl_stu at tamu-commerce.edu> .  DO NOT submit proof of insurance
to the international list serve email at intl-stu at tamu-commerce.edu
<mailto:intl-stu at tamu-commerce.edu>  as we cannot process the insurance
information and the hold will not be lifted.  Also, we will remind you
that international students are required by USCIS to be enrolled for a
full-course of study for the fall and spring semesters.  A full course
of study is 9 semester credit hours for graduate students and 12
semester credit hours for undergraduate students.  Only one online
course will count toward the full-course of study requirement.  Do not
drop below full-time at any time during the semester without permission
from an international advisor.  

 

 

Traveling outside the U.S. during spring break:

If you plan to travel outside the U.S. during the spring break you will
need to have a valid passport, valid visa, I-94, and your I-20 with a
signature on the last page within one year of the date you will re-enter
the U.S.  For more information please visit

Multicultural Festival

If you are interested in participating in the Multicultural Festival on
April 10 we need to hear from you soon.  If you are interested in
setting up a display to share about your culture or serve food you will
need to contact John Mark Jones at john_jones at tamu-commerce.edu no later
than March 27, 2009 at 5pm.  Groups that will be serving food will be
reimbursed up to $350 for their food expenses.  Please be sure to keep
all original receipts with company name, contact information, and
itemized list of items purchased with cost.  

 

If you would like to participate in the Talent Show you will need to
contact Brenda Brand at brenda_brand at tamu-commerce.edu no later than
March 25, 2009 at 5pm.  If you would like to participate in the Fashion
Show you will need to contact Brenda by March 30, 2009 at 5pm.

 

These are the countries that have been confirmed for the parade of
flags:  Saudi Arabia, Canada, India, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, Barbados,
Brazil, Puerto Rico, and St. Vincent and  Grenadines.  Please email your
full name, country, and CWID# to John Mark Jones by Friday, March 13 to
allow time to order any flags we do not have.
