Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to share that I have accepted an appointment as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs with the Texas A&M System. My last day working on campus will be August 14.

Having worked within the System and experiencing firsthand the incredible talent, commitment, and potential across our universities, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute in a broader capacity and support the continued success of our members. At the same time, leaving East Texas A&M is bittersweet. Serving as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together and, most importantly, grateful for the people who made that work possible.

Together, we have made significant progress in advancing student success and building a more student-ready university. We have strengthened and grown our academic programs, expanded opportunities for students through dual credit and competency-based education, advanced our research enterprise, invested in faculty and staff, increased enrollment, expanded regional collaborations, forged private/public partnerships, and strengthened our commitment to affordability and access. We have also worked together to build stronger relationships through Faculty Advisory Council, TABPHE and LFSA, creating new opportunities for connection and engagement that will continue to benefit our university.

These accomplishments are the result of the collective work, commitment, creativity, and persistence of the faculty, staff, administrators, and leaders across Academic Affairs and throughout East Texas A&M. I am deeply grateful to each of you for your partnership and for the many ways you have contributed to our shared progress.

I leave East Texas A&M with tremendous pride in what we have accomplished and great confidence in the future of this university. I know there is still important work ahead, and I hope you will continue to support one another, embrace the opportunities before you, and remain focused on doing what is best for our students and for the communities we serve.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve alongside you. It has been a privilege to be part of this university and this community, and I am grateful for the relationships, experiences, and memories I have gained here.

I wish each of you, and East Texas A&M University, continued success in the years ahead. I look forward to cheering you on and continuing to serve the Texas A&M University System through this new opportunity.

With sincere appreciation,
tvh
