Dear Colleagues,

A&M-Commerce Administration has received the attached request for nominations for "Piper Professors of 2024." The University can nominate only one faculty member each year for the award. The Faculty Senate Awards committee will manage the collection and review of applications for faculty members who wish to apply.

The Faculty Senate awards committee will make a recommendation to the full Senate regarding which application should go forward from the University. The full Senate will then make a recommendation to the Provost. Each application will be forwarded to the Provost's office for consideration. The Provost will then make a recommendation to the President of the University, who will then make the University's recommendation to the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation.

If you know of a faculty member who should apply, please encourage that individual to do so. Attached is the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation letter addressed to President Rudin. Nominees must complete the Piper Professor Nomination Form (see attachment). The electronic form is available online Piper Professor Award Nomination Form (texas.gov)<https://comptroller.texas.gov/programs/education/msp/funding/programs/ppnominationform.php>. www.comptroller.texas.gov/ppnomination<http://www.comptroller.texas.gov/ppnomination> In addition to the two-part form, up to five letters of recommendation may also be submitted as part of the nomination package.

The deadline for submission to the Piper Foundation is November 17, 2023. The Provost Office has requested nomination material by November 13, 2023. Application material should be submitted to the Faculty Senate awards committee by Nov 1, 2023.
