CALL FOR PROPOSALS:  Lion's Lecture
The Book in Common is an important part of the First Year TRAC initiative because it extends beyond freshmen to create a shared cultural experience for our entire university campus and surrounding community.  It is our hope that this book will become integrated into your courses and student activities this year.  Copies of the book are on reserve in the library.
Several campus-wide events were/will be held in conjunction with this book:

*         Cyanotyping:  Tuesday, October 8, 2019

*         Author's Address:  Monday, October 14, 2019

*         Gender Studies Book Club Discussion:  Wednesday, February 12, 2020

*         Lion's Lecture:  Tuesday, March 24, 2020 @ 6:30pm
This year, we would like to invite scholars from ALL of our academic colleges to submit proposals related to some component of the Book in Common.  Presenters will provide a student-friendly academic lecture in a TED Talk format (5-8 minutes).  Six presentations from various disciplines will be followed by questions from the audience.  Dr. Ray Green (Honor's College) has graciously agreed to serve as moderator & discussant.  [PowerPoint and other technological needs will be provided]
Please encourage your faculty to submit an academically-focused abstract related to topics raised by the book.  Some ideas are presented in the word cloud, below

Submit abstracts (250 words) by:  February 14, 2020 to:  Quynh.Dang at tamuc.edu<mailto:Quynh.Dang at tamuc.edu>
Include: Name, Position, Department, Contact Information, Tentative Title
Accepted presenters will be notified by February 28, 2020
