Greetings!

I would like to announce that the 16th Annual Pathways Research Symposium<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.tamiu.edu_pathways_index.shtml&d=DwIFAg&c=oqyuZuih6ykib6aKiBq22_bich4AVfYGoLertJN0bEc&r=ipRgm7MFqxEwm4jXxXA7TfceI2KGyDX4I4OYfUR5x68&m=1uQ-XI8-A10TIe_Hd_3lCksn11VJTHjKlQNi5NoPJ54&s=XElDKL_Weox8dsnWYgFy4TYicaKa2gHkYvu5V4My2z4&e= > will be held this year at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas, November 7-8, 2019. We are now accepting applications<file:///Y:/RESEARCH%20SYMPOSIUMS/Pathways/2019%20-%20Laredo/Forms/Pathways%20Research%20Approval.docx> from undergraduate and graduate students. We are limited on the number of students and faculty that we can take to this event so if you or any of your students are interested in attending, please do not wait to notify me, as spots will fill up quickly.

Please pass this information along to your students and let them know to turn in their applications<file:///Y:/RESEARCH%20SYMPOSIUMS/Pathways/2019%20-%20Laredo/Forms/Pathways%20Research%20Approval.docx> soon. The deadline to turn in applications to Office of Sponsored Programs is set for September 13, 2019. Research abstracts and applications should be emailed to OSP at tamuc.edu<mailto:OSP at tamuc.edu>. Students will be notified as soon as their application has been approved and given more details about the Symposium at that time.

The two-day symposium will consist of a two-night stay in Laredo, Texas. I have attached a tentative agenda. The Office of Sponsored Programs will again cover costs of transportation, hotel, and registration for both students and faculty.

Students MUST have completed the Responsible Conduct of Research training and it must be current. Their certificate of completion (pdf) should be included as part of their packet. It can be downloaded from CITI<http://www.tamuc.edu/research/FindFunding/find-student-funding/ResearchSymposiums/pathways/default.aspx>.

All students must be on an active protocol (IACUC, IBC, or IRB) to apply. If their advisor feels that no protocol is required, the advisor must submit a statement explaining why no protocol is needed for research.

Please visit our webpage for more information regarding the Symposium.
