[VPAAEtal] Fall 2018- Online Course Shells for All

Greetings faculty,

Fall 2018 represents an exciting change as we launch the brand new learning management system, myLeo Online.  Powered by D2L Brightspace, the new LMS provides a course shell for all course sections scheduled in the Banner student system, regardless of teaching mode.  Fully online, blended, and face-to-face course sections will each have a corresponding course shell in the LMS.

For all course shells, faculty members will need to upload their syllabus, which should include their office location and contact information.

The new LMS features a powerful grade-book tool.  Faculty for fully online and blended course shells should leverage this tool in order to provide current grade information for students.

Faculty using LMS course shells for face-to-face courses are invited to use the grade-book tool as well.  This is not a requirement for the fall semester for face-to-face courses.   All faculty are encouraged to attend training to learn how to use the grade-book.  Academic Technology provides weekly training opportunities on how to use the LMS tools, including the grade-book.  Faculty can sign up for sessions on the Training and Development website at http://appsprod.tamuc.edu/td/coursecalendar.aspx.  The "Essentials of myLeo Online" sessions are offered each Thursday and Friday morning at 8:30.  Remote attendance is available upon request.

In the Spring of 2019, all course sections will be required to use the grade-book tool in the LMS.  The fall semester is a good time to become familiar with myLeo Online and the grade-book tool.
