Faculty Teaching Online Courses
Congratulations on an excellent start of the fall 2016 semester. Survey results from online students for the Start of Term (SOT) survey, which was conducted between 5 -14 September, are currently available to you. Consistent with "best practices" in online courses, the SOT survey seeks to foster critically important dialogs between instructors and students, as well as positively influencing course structure. The purpose of this survey is to equip you with initial feedback and general impressions formed by students.
Retrieval of Students' Comments on the Start of the Fall 2016 Semester
Individual instructors will be able to access the results from the Start of Term (SOT) surveys in the same fashion as you currently access the SRTEs from their courses. Each instructor can locate the Start of Term results for each course by navigating to your Pearson LearningStudio course shell from the fall 2016 W1 term, select "Course Admin," and then "Survey Results" from the menu.
Background Information
The Start of Term (SOT) online course survey, conducted at the start of each fall and spring semester, serves to identify students' attitudes, values, and beliefs about education and to help faculty address them effectively. The SOT also amplifies the opportunities for constructing meaningful dialogues between instructors and students, while elevating the campus' climate of mutual respect.
Department Head Access
CFEI will prepare a summary report for each Department Head presenting aggregated quantitative and qualitative SOT feedback from students taking courses within their department. For confidentiality and end-user convenience, these departmental SOT results will be placed into the same COURSE EVALUATION file. This is the same file location that is currently being used to store paper-based SRTE results. Each department head can use their unique sign-in privileges to access their department's aggregated results.
