SUBJECT: Graduate Recruitment Matching Funds

Without a doubt, faculty are our best recruiters, each with his/her own
unique and innovative ideas to encourage top-quality students to Texas A
& M University-Commerce. With this in mind, the Office of Graduate
Studies and Research has once again dedicated limited funds to enhance
departmental recruiting efforts for 2009-10. These limited funds will
be used to assist innovative recruiting efforts by cost sharing the
expense of recruiting activities. Departments with low enrollments are
encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

A proposal, which describes the details of the planned activity and
expected outcome, must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Studies
and Research prior to the activity. For each activity, a strong case
must be made that the activity should result in attracting graduate
students to the university. The form to request the cost-sharing funds
can be found at
http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/academics/graduateSchool/documents/recruitm
entactivityform.pdf. Please keep in mind that funds are limited, so
early planning will be essential to your funding.

Examples of recruiting activities include updating/creating departmental
brochures; recruiting at professional meetings/conferences;
collaborating/partnering with undergraduate institutions to encourage
their graduates to continue their education as a graduate student at
A&M-Commerce; and collaborating with school districts and regional
service centers.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me 5159 or by e-mail
at allan_headley at tamu-commerce.edu.

Thank you for your successful efforts in recruiting graduate students
this past year, and I look forward to working with you in your efforts
to enhance your graduate programs and A&M-Commerce.
