We hope you will join us for a planning meeting in preparation for the
upcoming Commerce Week on Writing.

Planning meeting Wednesday, September 16, 2009, from 1:00-2:00 in the
Auditorium of the Hall of Languages at the corner of Monroe St. and
Education Blvd. on the Texas A&M-Commerce campus.

What is the Commerce Week on Writing?

October 20, 2009 is the National Day on Writing
(www.ncte.org/dayonwriting). We'd like to celebrate writing here in
Commerce, Texas, with an entire week of events.

The Commerce Week on Writing is October 16-October 23 (more at
http://convergingliteraciescenter.wordpress.com/)

Are you interested in organizing an event?

Join us for a planning meeting on 9/16/09 at 1:00. Bring your ideas for
celebration and hear what others are doing.

 Eager to learn more?

Find resources at our "Commerce Week on Writing" blog
(http://convergingliteraciescenter.wordpress.com/), see
what others are planning, and share your own ideas.

Even if you can't attend this meeting, we hope you will celebrate the
Commerce Week on Writing by making writing
 visible.

Why celebrate writing in these visible, high-profile ways?

According to the National Council of Teachers of English, "Writing is a
daily practice for millions of Americans.
But few notice how integral writing has become to daily life in the
21st century.

To draw attention to the remarkable variety of writing we engage in and
help make writers from all walks of life
aware of their craft, NCTE has established October 20, 2009, as the
National Day on Writing."

Commerce is filled with writers worth celebrating! Do you have ideas
about how you'd like to celebrate? See what
folks are planning and share some ideas of your own! Visit the Commerce
Week on Writing blog.

 Flier for event is attached.

 Yours in Celebration,
 Jane, JP, Shannon, and Tabetha
