DR. RANDY MCBROOM TO SERVE AS

INTERIM ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Dr. Randy McBroom has been appointed by President Jones to serve as
Interim Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs in the Office of
the Provost. The appointment will minimally continue through Interim
Provost Peer's appointment scheduled to end on either May 31 or August
31, 2009, and possibly longer, depending upon subsequent review by Dr.
McBroom, the incumbent Provost and the President.

Dr. McBroom's responsibilities as Interim Associate Vice President will
include many of those formerly assigned to Dr. Sharon Johnson in
addition to his continued supervision of the Office of Institutional
Research and the University's institutional effectiveness system;
serving as TAMU-C's official campus liaison with SACS; overseeing
university curriculum, assessment and academic program matters; and
coordinating student academic appeals unresolved at the appropriate
department or college level.

AVP McBroom's office is located in Room 280 of the McDowell
Administration Building. He can be reached there by contacting him
directly or his administrative assistant, Ms. Sharon Crump, at campus
extension 5022.

Interim Provost Peer issued the following statement regarding the
appointment. "It is both prudent of the University and fortunate for an
interim Provost to have someone with Dr. McBroom's knowledge of the
University on the provost's staff. I look forward to working closely
with him and benefiting from the breadth not only of his TAMU-C
experiences, but his knowledge of broader entities such as SACS, THECB,
and TAMUS. His informed counsel on these internal and external matters
of importance to the University will be invaluable, both immediately and
in the months ahead."
