Colleagues,

Concerned about teaching online? We are too! As Coordinator for
Instructional Design and Chair of the Faculty Development Committee, we are
conducting a study to gain insight into the relationships between faculty
concerns, administrator concerns, and faculty development in online learning
at Texas A&M University-Commerce. It is our hope that the information gained
will create a better understanding of the faculty development needed to meet
each faculty member at his/her point of entry into teaching online courses
(should one decide to do so) in the higher education setting.

We invite the participation of all full time and adjunct faculty who have
and who have not taught online. Research packets containing a Stages of
Concern Questionnaire will be distributed to full time faculty campus
mailboxes the week of April 1st and will be sent to adjunct faculty via U.S.
mail. You will be able to identify the research packets by the wording
"RESEARCH STUDY MATERIALS ENCLOSED" on the envelope label. We hope you
choose to participate in this study.

Thanks!

Julie A. McElhany, Ed.D.

Coordinator for Instructional Design

Leah E. Wickersham, Ph.D.

Chair of the Faculty Development Committee
