Greetings! Can you believe we are only 3 days away from our first New
Student Orientation Session for the 2008 cycle?! We currently have over
150 students registered and they will be joined by over 170 parents and
guests!

 

The Office of Orientation and the Enrollment Management leadership team
has continued to work to adjust the format and to restructure the New
Student Orientation program at Texas A&M University-Commerce. The
Orientation program has been and will continue to be updated and
revamped to better meet the needs of our diverse new student population
and to provide quality support as they transition in our university. 

 

First, we wanted to remind you of the official dates for the 2008
orientation season. Please make note of these updated dates on your
calendar and consider them as you work and plan for the future in your
respective departments and service areas.

Secondly, we would like to sincerely thank you in advance for the
important role you will play in New Student Orientation this summer as
well as for your support and patience as we transition into a new
program.

 

Attached you will find the final versions of our New Student (Freshman
and Transfers with less than 21 hours) Agenda, our Transfer Student
(Transfer students with 21 or more hours) Agenda, and our Parent/Guest
Agenda for this weekend.

 

Since this is a new process we would also like to offer an opportunity
for you to join the Office of Orientation as we overview the
schedule/agenda so that you can learn about the integral role you will
play in the New Student Orientation process and have an opportunity to
ask any questions or get clarification. 

 

What:  Orientation to New Student Orientation

When:  Wednesday, June 11th - 2:00 pm

Where:  MSC, Leadership Lounge

 

This session will focus specifically on the June 13-14th event schedule.
While the New Student Orientation sessions that will follow offer the
same event components, there might be some changes and additions as we
have our first run this weekend. Additional informational sessions will
be held throughout the summer to help prepare you for the rest of the
orientation sessions.

 

If you are unable to attend, please send a representative in your place.
We look forward to sharing with you tomorrow.

 

Once again, thank you in advance for your participation in the New
Student Orientation Session this coming weekend. 

 

Finally, please remember to be in your designated location fifteen (15)
minutes prior to the start of your event/session. 

 

Please share this announcement with your staff and other key players in
your respective areas that might have been unintentionally left out.
