Subject: [TACRAO] Listserv Online Registration

I have a few questions concerning how other community colleges are using online registration with their students:

What student demographic groups are allowed to register online (general education students, dual credit students, workforce students)?

All students except:

· FTIC students who are TSI-liable and score below college-ready in all three TSI components (must be registered by an advisor for first two long terms)

· Dual credit

· Early college high school

· Concurrent enrollment students (those taking college classes during high school but not for high school credit)

Community and Industry Education (formerly CE) students can also register online.

Are students required to be TSI complete to register online?
A student who is TSI-liable must test in or otherwise satisfy all three areas, or registration will be blocked.

What is the process at your instution to become “greenlighted” to online register?
Satisfy TSI testing and/or advising requirements; in addition, some classes and/or programs require a “petition” (departmental approval). FTIC students must register for a New Student Orientation before they can add any other classes to their schedule, and some TSI-deficient FTIC students will also be required to register in a student success course before other classes can be added to the schedule. Failure to comply with the meningitis law can block registration, and students who want to take an online class must first pass an online assessment.

Are students allowed to online register in summer and mini sessions if they are not degree seeking students are your institution?

Any and all information that you would like to share with me concerning your online registration policies and procedures would be greatly appreciated.
