[TACRAO] Listserv Awarding a single degree from two colleges

Students may receive multiple degrees, regardless of the college, as long as the degrees are different. A student pursuing a BS degree from Math/Science/Engineering can receive a BA degree from Humanities/Arts/Social Science as long as the student completes all requirements for both degrees and the additional hours for a second degree. However, students cannot receive a BA degree from Math/Science/Engineering and a BA degree in Humanities/Arts/Social Science. For that example, they would earn one degree with two majors.

Subject: [TACRAO] Listserv Awarding a single degree from two colleges

Good afternoon, TACRAO!

I have a question for you, that was posed from our Provost office:

Do any of you award degrees across colleges?

Example: Student completes 120 hour requirement to be awarded a BS in Interior Design and Art, awarded from the College of Human Sciences and the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

If you do, does your institution have any policies specific to the review, approval, and implementation of such programs?

Thank you!
