Announcements
Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference
Date: November 20, 2015
Time: 5pm
Location: http://bit.ly/SBSLCApp
Cost: $80
The Serving Engaged Empowered & Diverse Students (S.E.E.D.S.) Office and the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life are partnering to offer an opportunity to the African American/Black students at Texas A&M University-Commerce. On January 21-24, 2016, we will be taking a select group of students to the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference (SBSLC) held at Texas A&M University in College Station. SBSLC is one of the largest and most prestigious student-run collegiate leadership events in the nation. Now in its 28th year, the conference continues to empower students to excel academically and become productive leaders in their communities.
The theme for the 2016 conference is The Revolution: Walk with Us. With societal issues mounting, the approach we take in response has never required more attention. Across the nation, we have witnessed the power of unified groups fighting for change and as students we possess the power to do the same. This theme is a charge to take a stance by changing the narrative. The revolution we desire begins internally by shifting our approach to one of collective action and continues as we channel our efforts to change our world. Individually our efforts may be great, but collectively our community will thrive. Through meaningful dialogue and thought provoking discourse, we can all join in the revolution. If you would like more information on SBSLC, visit their site: sbslc.tamu.edu.
To apply for an opportunity to attend this prestigious conference, click here for the application: http://bit.ly/SBSLCApp. The application will close on Friday, November 20th at 5pm.
Please note that if selected, the student will be responsible for the registration fee of $80 and the meals while on the trip. Lodging and transportation will be provided by the S.E.E.D.S. Office.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the S.E.E.D.S. Office atseeds at tamuc.edu<mailto:seeds at tamuc.edu>
