Good day Lion Faculty, Staff and Students!
We need your assistance in the recruitment of eligible undergraduates
into the McNair Scholars Program. We are actively seeking disciplined,
self-motivated, and responsible who would like to partner with a Faculty
Mentor of their choice to conduct undergraduate research by the summer
of 2014. We will be hosting a recruitment open house to students in
your department on September 3rd and 19th 2013, in AG/IT-Room 253; on
both dates from 12:30-1:30 pm.
The McNair Scholars program offers undergraduates (sophomore, junior,
and senior level) an opportunity to successfully prepare potential
Scholars for entrance into graduate school. The main components of the
program include potential Scholars conducting and completing original
research under the supervision of their faculty mentor and receiving
training in critical analysis, writing and communication, presentations
of their research, and graduate school preparation.
We want to ensure that potential Scholars have an opportunity to
showcase their talents, knowledge, and skills necessary to complete
research and receive a stipend for their research (Faculty Mentors also
receive a stipend for 11-months per Scholar). By the end of this
recruitment phase, our goal is to have twenty-five Scholars working with
their faculty mentors starting, reviewing their literature, and
conducting scholarly research, as well as presenting their findings at
the local, state, and regional conferences.
