Announcement:

Please join us this Thursday, April 14th 3:00-4:30 p.m. for the first
Planning Meeting for the Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Safe Space
Pride Committee

Location: Sam Rayburn Student Center (SRSC) 231 Pride Room

Dr. Emilie Cate, Counseling Center, and Dr. Robin Anne Reid, Literature
and Languages, would like to invite all interested community members,
students, faculty, and staff to the first planning meeting to create a
Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender (GLBT) Safe Spaces Committee. This
planning meeting will initiate a process of long-term planning and
development of a Safe Spaces program serving the university and
community.

The purpose of a Safe Spaces program is to create a safer, freer, and
more welcoming environment for all individuals regardless of sexual
orientation, by working to reduce inequality, homophobia, transphobia
and heterosexism. This project is a direct response to the need for
increased support for gay, lesbian, bisexual and ally issues on college
campuses both locally and nationally, and their surrounding communities.

Please announce widely! Thank you!

If you would like to participate but cannot make the meeting, or if you
have any questions, please email Robin_Reid at tamu-commerce.edu
<mailto:Robin_Reid at tamu-commerce.edu>

See you Thursday, April 14, from 3-4:30 p.m., at SRSC Pride 231.

Emilie Cate and Robin Anne Reid
