[Students] $3000.00 Mayo Scholarship

Dear Students:

 

On February 5, 2009, the University Honors Office mailed letters to
undergraduates eligible to apply for the 2009 Mayo Scholarship, one of
the most prestigious awards at Texas A&M University-Commerce.  The Mayo
Scholar will receive $3000 toward his/her academic expenses in the
2009-2010 academic year, and the four runners-up will each be given a
$1,500 credit toward tuition and fees.  The names of the winner and
runners-up will be announced at this spring's 2009 University Honors Day
Luncheon on Friday, April 3, 2009.

 

We want to encourage qualified undergraduates to look for their letters
from the Honors Office and to follow up by completing the application,
writing the 1500-word essay, and providing the supporting documents.
All documents are due to the University Honors Office, Prairie Crossing
#416, no later than 3:00 p.m. on February 27, 2009.   

 

QUALIFICATIONS:     You must:

 

*	Have completed a minimum of 48 hours prior to this semester and,
as of the fall 2009 term, still need at least 24 semester hours toward
completion of your degree.
*	Have a composite GPA of 3.5 or better (transfer and
TAMU-Commerce credits).
*	Have a GPA of 3.5 or better on all work completed at
TAMU-Commerce.
*	Have completed at least 15 hours at TAMU-Commerce during the
previous calendar year.
*	Be enrolled for at least 12 hours at TAMU-Commerce during the
2009 spring semester.
*	Be returning to TAMU-Commerce for the two full semesters during
the 2009-2010 school year.

 

NOTE:   You may compete only once for this scholarship, and the award
can only be applied toward undergraduate courses at Texas A&M
University-Commerce.  Also, please be advised that if you receive
financial aid, winning this scholarship may result in your aid being
adjusted.
