  Today I ran TLC plates.  Many TLC plates on the product that I synthesized from the previous day.  I tried to find a solvent that separated the starting molecule from the newly formed product and checked to see if the product was pure.  Some of the plates wouldnt show, so I had to dip them in potassium permanganate and heat them to get the spots to appear.  I finally found a good solvent, and it was 9:1 Dichloromethane/Methanol.  I also gave my first presentation today.
