Hi everyone,

Just a few announcements before we start the summer:

  * Remember grades are due Monday May 12 by 5pm.
     * If you are instructor of record for a thesis course (Phys 518), enter a grade of I. The grad college will change this to an 'S' when the final thesis has been approved.
  * We will have two receptions in the Science Building Lobby for our graduating students:
     * Friday, May 9, at ~ 2:30pm (right after Commencement) for our grad students, Dipika Das Ria and Sahjahan Islam.
     * Saturday May 10 at ~ 10am (right after Commencement) for our undergrad students.
     * Please try to come to these if possible to give our students one last hearty congratulations and a fond farewell.
     * Light refreshments will be provided.
  * Summer international travel and work policy: In the likely case you are still confused about our summer work policy during international travel, the short summary is:
     * Remote work from foreign countries is permitted up to a maximum of 60 days. This includes teaching classes. (If you will be out of the country for more than 60 days, then just make sure not to work outside of the USA for more than 60 days.)
     * You must not take a university-owned computing asset outside of the country unless it is a loaner laptop from CITE.
     * No work may be done from: Iran, Syria, North Korea, China, Cuba, or areas under the control of Venezuelan politician Nicolas Maduro. Here "work" includes anything related to teaching, research, and service, including accessing university email.
     * If you make a personal trip to Iran, Syria, North Korea, China, Cuba, or areas under the control of Venezuelan politician Nicolas Maduro, there is a form on Workday that you need to fill out both before and after your trip.

Thank you all for your continued hard work and for your support of our department! Be sure to take time to relax and recharge this summer. Please be prepared for start-of-term meetings on the week of August 18; Fall 2025 begins on August 25!

Cheers,
Kurtis
