So far I have only received one comment (regarding external reviewers) from the faculty in the Department of Literature & Languages, and here it is:

"I think external review letters should be required, but also, there needs to be clarity on when Department Heads solicit those and how often they might follow up to give enough lead time for them to be written. I think 1-2 for tenure to associate, and at least 2 for promotion to full. However, it should be made clear that candidates/departments shouldn’t penalize a lack of response about a letter request against the candidate since that lack of response could be indicative of many things, such as letter requests over summer months when many faculty might not be working."

Discussing the T&P policy is on our agenda for today's departmental meeting, and I'll send more comments (if there are any) afterward.
