Hi Everyone,

Since COVID-19 (coronavirus) is undoubtedly spreading wild through the US, I made a couple PowerPoint slides covering the scientifically-backed best practices for your students, in case you want to share.  Most “information” online and on popular news outlets is poor if not downright wrong.

Feel free to use these slides if you want.

To save space, I didn’t point out a few other facts that you may wish to mention.

* Most people will experience COVID-19 with mild cold or flu symptoms, including coughing, sneezing, potentially a fever, and maybe aches and pains.

* People with underlying health conditions are most at risk from infection.

* The best goal for people is to avoid spreading the virus, as avoiding getting the virus will be tough.

* Hand sanitizer is only mildly effective because coronaviruses are protected by an extra lipid sheet that repels water-based substances.  60%+ Alcohol concentration is required for any useful protection.

* Face masks are only useful for infected persons to avoid spreading the virus; they don’t provide any significant protection for healthy folks.

If you notice that I made a mistake, please let me know!  I used the CDC website to write everything, but I have some misgivings about it.  However, most of this was repeated by an non-governmental epidemiologist I heard interviewed.
