[phas-dept] Transitions

Dear students:

I’m writing to let you all know that I have been asked by the Provost (Dr. Humphreys) to serve as the Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School, and have accepted the position.  The start date is Nov 1.  I will continue to teach my classes through the end of the semester, and my ‘home’ department will of course remain Physics and Astronomy.  I will still be available to mentor undergraduate and graduate research projects, should that be of interest to you personally, and you will still see me at colloquia.

Dr. Kent Montgomery will be assuming the responsibilities of Department Head also effective Nov 1.

I will miss you all more than you know - we have a great department, and I know it will continue to grow and flourish under Dr. Montgomery’s leadership.
