Dear students:
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">I’m writing to let you all know that I have been asked by the Provost (Dr. Humphreys) to serve as the Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School, and have accepted the position. &nbsp;The start date is Nov 1. &nbsp;I will continue to teach
 my classes through the end of the semester, and my ‘home’ department will of course remain Physics and Astronomy. &nbsp;I will still be available to mentor undergraduate and graduate research projects, should that be of interest to you personally, and you will
 still see me at colloquia. &nbsp;</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">Dr. Kent Montgomery will be assuming the responsibilities of Department Head also effective Nov 1. &nbsp;</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">I will miss you all more than you know - we have a great department, and I know it will continue to grow and flourish under Dr. Montgomery’s leadership.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">

<div class="">Best regards,</div>
