Thank you, Mike and Vera, for hosting this wonderful event! I had a great
time . . . great company, great food, and a GREAT talk by Richard Enos. He
is, indeed, a master rhetorician, and-if the many nods and smiles and rapt
attention were any indication--his presentation and approach resonated with
all of us in ways that'll stay with us for a very long time. I enjoyed
myself so much that when he began to wrap up and I forced myself look at my
watch, I was shocked to find 40 minutes had flown by.
Thank you, Steve, for recommending, inviting, and introducing this fine
scholar and generous man. Please thank him for me, as well.
And Cheryl: I hope you are following doctor's orders and taking care of that
wrist. My fingers crossed that it isn't broken; on second thought, I'll
cross my fingers on both hands as I know you can't. You were missed, but we
are all glad you finally decided to get it x-rayed. And I am grateful to you
for all the work you did before the conference, working around the injury
for the benefit of the organization. Now that's one awesome and committed
president!
Peggy: Thanks for all you have done/are doing for the organization-keeping
incredibly accurate notes, designing/developing/framing the certificates,
offering to mail those certificates not picked up, and a million other
things (especially pointing out holes in the business meeting like my
forgetting to call to vote the proposed changes to the constitution . . .
sorry, Cheryl!).
Alice: Thanks for all your incredible support, great ideas,
and-especially-that fab newsletter you put together!
Ben: Thanks for all you've done with the record-keeping and everything else
associated with being treasurer. At the close of the meeting today when I
saw you surrounded by paperwork and checks, I didn't envy you but I
certainly appreciated you. I think we all did. And to be reimbursed for the
door prizes I purchased just moments after passing along the receipt-Wow! I
really didn't expect that, but I certainly appreciate it.
I'm proud to be a member of this organization and incredibly jazzed about
things to come. Can't wait until Spring, folks!
