This email was supposed to be sent before the waiver email yesterday to provide more details on the System Student Health Insurance Plan (SSHIP). Due to technical issues the waiver information email was sent but this one was not. The International Student Services Office at A&M-Commerce does not set the health insurance policy nor is our office involved in setting the price for the health insurance.
The Texas A&M System requires all international students to enroll in the System Student Health Insurance Plan (SSHIP). This information has been emailed out to new students in the New International Student Guidebook and has also been included in new Initial student's I-20's. There are very limited exceptions allowed by the A&M System for this requirement. To view all allowed waivers please go to http://www.tamuc.edu/CampusLife/CampusServices/internationalStudentServices/insurance.aspx.
PLEASE NOTE THAT OUTSIDE HEALTH INSURANCE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNLESS THE STUDENT MEETS ONE OF THE ALLOWED WAIVER EXCEPTIONS. The mandatory enrollment in the SSHIP for international students is a A&M System wide policy for all A&M System schools.
The International Student Services Office has updated our website to include links to the new information for the 2014-2015 academic year. Please go to www.tamuc.myahpcare.com<http://www.tamuc.myahpcare.com> for more information or see below.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY STUDENTS WHO MEET ONE OF THE A&M SYETEM ALLOWED WAIVER EXCEPTIONS LISTED AT http://www.tamuc.edu/CampusLife/CampusServices/internationalStudentServices/insurance.aspx WILL BE CONSIDERED. Students who fail to submit their waiver request by the deadline of September 10 will be charged for the health insurance and a refund may be processed at a later time if the student is eligible. Please allow Academic Healh Plans (AHP) up to 7 business days to process waiver requests. The ISSO does not process any waiver requests.
