Beginning Tuesday, April 30, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
will begin an automation process for the I-94 Arrival/Departure card.
It will take CBP about 4 weeks to implement this new process at all air
and sea port of entries across the U.S. and you may go to
http://www.tamuc.edu/studentLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServ
ices/documents/FAQI94Automation.pdf for a schedule and for more
information. Students entering the U.S through land port of entries
(example...Mexico/U.S. border) will still receive a paper copy I-94.
All non-immigrants (F, J, H1-B, B visas) entering the U.S. at air and
sea port of entries will no longer receive a paper copy I-94 but will
have an electronic I-94 record created through CBP's website at
www.cbp.gov/I94. Students will be able to access their electronic
I-94 record within 2 days of entering the U.S. You will need to access
your record at www.cbp.gov/I94 <http://www.cbp.gov/I94> and print a
copy of your record for check-in with the ISSO. We also recommend you
print and save a copy for your records.
If you receive a paper copy I-94 when you enter the U.S. then the
process will remain with CBP. The next time you depart the U.S. you
will surrender the paper copy I-94 before your depart. We will require
a copy of the front and back of the paper copy I-94 for check-in at the
ISSO.
