The International Student Services office (ISSO) at Texas A&M
University-Commerce would like to congratulate you on your acceptance to
our university and we look forward to meeting you in August. Over the
next few weeks I will be sending you emails with very important
information concerning your arrival and things you need to be aware of
before you arrive. PLEASE READ OVER THESE EMAILS VERY CAREFULLY!

Below are some the answers to some of the most frequently asked
questions we receive from our new international students. Please read
over the information very carefully:

* What will be the cost of my courses for the fall semester?
New international students will often contact the International Student
Services office (ISSO) prior to their first semester to inquire about
the specific amount of their tuition and fees. The exact amount of the
tuition and fees for a student cannot be known until the student has
registered for courses and new international students cannot register
for courses until completing check-in with an international advisor and
attending the mandatory orientation. The ISSO can only advise students
that the estimated cost for tuition and fees for one year is $15,500.00
USD but this amount may vary depending on academic program and/or
housing. We cannot provide the specific amount you will owe each
semester. For more information or if you have any questions or
concerns you may visit
http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/bursar/default.aspx
<http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/bursar/default.asp
x> for information specific to tuition and fees.

* What are my payment options for my tuition and fees? The
Bursar's office is our financial services office on campus and students
may set-up a payment plan to spread out the payment of their tuition and
fees each semester. The Bursar's office website also has a tuition and
fee payment scale so students may have an idea of what they should
expect to pay for their tuition and fees. For more information or if
you have any questions or concerns you may visit
http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/bursar/default.aspx
<http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/bursar/default.asp
x> for information specific to tuition and fees.

* What if my passport, visa, and I-20 names do not match? Will
there be any issues? Many of you have already been issued an F-1 visa
to enter the U.S. for your academic program. Please review your visa
and passport to ensure that all the information is correct and that your
GIVEN NAME and SURNAME match exactly your name. Any differences with
any of your immigration documents, passport, visa, I-20, and the I-94
that is issued when you enter the U.S. may jeopardize your eligibility
for a driver's license, Texas state ID card, or social security card if
you find eligible employment. Any incorrect information on your VISA
CANNOT be changed once you enter the U.S.

* Who do I contact regarding my degree plan and knowing what
classes I need to register for this fall semester? Students who
complete check-in prior to international orientation on Thursday, August
26 and attend all sessions of orientation will be eligible to register
for courses after international orientation. Students who do not
complete check-in prior to international orientation will have to attend
international orientation on Thursday, August 26 and check-in with an
international advisor on Friday, August 27 between 10am-12pm in Halladay
104 before they can register for courses. Students may register for
courses with their academic department, through the Registrar's office
in the OneStop Shop, or through their myLeo at
https://leo.tamu-commerce.edu/login.aspx. We will discuss this in more
details at orientation. After the completion of international
orientation, students will be escorted over to their respective academic
departments for to meet with their advisor.

Undergraduate international students (ONLY UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS) will
be required to attend international student orientation and regular
undergraduate orientation. You may visit
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/orientation/ for more information.
Advisors at the undergraduate orientation will assist you with course
registration. Computer Science majors will be required to take a brief
quiz with the Computer Science Department in the Journalism building
before registering for courses. You may contact the Computer Science
department at 903-886-5409 or email Daniel_Creider at tamu-commerce.edu.
College of Business & Technology majors may contact the CBT Advising
Center at 1-866-622-3899, 903-468-3197, or email cbt at tamu-commerce.edu
with any questions and to receive your degree plan. Science (Physics,
Biology, Chemistry, etc...) and all other majors may go to their
specific academic department to meet with their academic advisor for
their degree plan. For a list of academic departments please go to
http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/academics/azPrograms/default.aspx.

* What changes have been made for international students this
fall semester? The ISSO has made changes to the time-frame and sessions
for the international orientation in hope that this service will be an
even better experience for our new international students. ALSO, THERE
WILL NOT BE A CHECK-IN SESSION ON THE DAY OF ORIENTATION. International
students will be required to check-in prior to international orientation
from Wednesday, August 18 to Wednesday, August 25 (CLOSED SATURDAY AND
SUNDAY) from 9-11am and 2-4pm or on Friday, August 27 from 10am-12pm.
Students should expect to be in orientation until 3pm but there will be
a number of breaks and interactive sessions throughout orientation.

* Have there been any changes made to the insurance requirements
for international students? International students are still required
to have medical and repatriation insurance for every registered
semester, but new international students will be automatically enrolled
in the A&M System insurance this fall semester and the estimated $274 a
semester premium will be charged with their tuition and fees. The ISSO
will take care of enrolling students in the program and NEW
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WILL NO LONGER HAVE TO PURCHASE THEIR INSURANCE
WITH A CREDIT/DEBIT CARD ONCE THEY ARRIVE. One important note: Payment
of the estimated $274 semester insurance premium must be made by the
20th class day (September 24th).
