[NewIntlStudents] Update on when to arrive in Commerce, Texas

Wed Dec 15 11:03:45 CST 2010

Students will often arrive in Commerce, Texas early so they can take
care of their responsibilities prior to the start of their first
semester at Texas A&M University-Commerce. THE ISSO STRONGLY
DISCOURAGES STUDENTS FROM ARRIVING EARLIER THAN JANUARY 10, 2011.

Our international student groups work very hard each semester to assist
our new international students with their housing arrangements, HOWEVER
this semester these groups have informed my office that they will have
VERY LIMITED temporary and/or permanent housing for new international
students.

The university and the ISSO DO NOT assist students in finding temporary
or permanent housing. The ISSO will provide you general information but
new students are responsible for finding their own temporary and
permanent housing upon arrival in Commerce.

Due to the limited resources from our international student groups this
semester it is very likely that new students will have to stay in a
local hotel until they can make other arrangements for their housing.

The residence halls will open for move-in on Thursday, January 13 for
students planning to live on-campus. Students who plan to live in
on-campus housing this spring that arrive earlier than January 13th
MUST contact Judy_Edelhauser at tamu-commerce.edu
<mailto:Judy_Edelhauser at tamu-commerce.edu> to inquire about moving in
early to the residence halls.

DO NOT ARRIVE IN COMMERCE, TEXAS EARLIER THAN JANUARY 10 UNLESS YOU HAVE
ALREADY MADE HOUSING ARRANGEMENTS OR YOU ARE PREPARED TO PAY FOR A HOTEL
UNTIL YOU ARE ABLE TO MAKE YOUR PERMANENT HOUSING ARRANGEMENTS.
