[NewIntlStudents] ISSO New Student Scholarship

[New International Students]

The International Student Services office (ISSO) will award two (2) new
international students a $1000 competitive scholarship this fall 2010
semester.  

 

ONLY STUDENTS WHO COMPLETE CHECK-IN BY 11:00AM ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25,
MEET THE REQUIREMENTS BELOW, AND SUBMIT THEIR APPLICATION BY 12:00PM
NOON ON AUGUST 25 WILL BE CONSIDERED.  DO NOT WAIT UNTIL WEDNESDAY,
AUGUST 25 TO CHECK-IN AS WE WILL END THE MORNING SESSION AT 11:00AM
SHARP REGARDLESS OF ANY STUDENTS WAITING TO CHECK-IN FOR THE MORNING
SESSION.   

 

Below are the eligibility requirements for the scholarship:

*	Must be an F-1 visa international student and have not applied
for permanent residency or had an H1-B visa petition filed on their
behalf.
*	Must complete their check-in with an international advisor by
11:00am on Wednesday, August 25 and submit their application in person
by 12:00pm Noon on Wednesday, August 25 at the ISSO in Halladay 104. 
*	Must attend all sessions at international orientation and be
present to accept award or award will be forfeited.
*	Must be enrolled in at least twelve (12) semester credit hours
as an undergraduate student or nine (9) semester credit hours as a
graduate student.  There are no special requirements for students
enrolling in the summer.    
*	Must maintain a 3.0 GPA for the award period
*	Must remain in good academic and disciplinary standing with the
university for the award period
*	Must remain in good financial standing with the university for
the award period

 

Students concluding Optional Practical Training employment and enrolling
in a new degree program will be eligible for the scholarship.  Students
matriculating to begin a new degree, continuing with a second degree at
the same education level immediately after completion of first degree,
or applying for a change of visa status WILL NOT be eligible.  

 

APPLICATIONS WILL ONLY BE PROVIDED ONCE A STUDENT HAS COMPLETED CHECK-IN
AND WILL BE DUE BY 12:00PM NOON ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25 IN HALLADAY 104.
APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN PERSON TO THE ISSO.  FAXED OR EMAILED
COPIES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.        

 

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL THE ISSO STAFF TO ASK FOR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR
THE SCHOLARSHIP.
