PLEASE NOTE THE IMPORTANT CHANGES BELOW TO THE INSURANCE REQUIREMENT,
CHECK-IN, AND ORIENTATION FROM PREVIOUS SEMESTERS. We realize many of
our new international students are helped by our current international
students (their seniors) and we want to make sure you are aware of some
changes from previous semesters so you are not misinformed by your
seniors.
* All new international students will be automatically enrolled
in the A&M System insurance plan starting this fall 2010 semester- the
A&M Basic International Insurance Plan. It will NO LONGER BE REQUIRED
to purchase medical and repatriation insurance once you arrive in the
U.S. For more information you may visit www.tamuinsurance.com
<http://www.tamuinsurance.com> . The semester premium will be
automatically added to your student account with your regular tuition
and fees and the tentative cost will be $274 USD a semester. Students
will be required to pay the tentative $274 premium by the 20th day of
class in the fall semester or risk having their classes dropped.
* THERE WILL BE NO CHECK-IN ON THE DAY OF ORIENTATION ON
THURSDAY, AUGUST 26. Check-in will be from Wednesday, August 18 to
Wednesday, August 25 (closed Saturday and Sunday) from 9-11am and 2-4pm.
If you fail to check-in prior to orientation then you will be notified
of when we will resume check-in at a later date.
* THE SCHEDULE AND LOCATION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION
HAS BEEN CHANGED. Orientation will be located in the Performing Arts
Center (PAC) and will begin at 8:30am. For a map of campus please go to
http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/aboutUs/contactUs/campusMapDirections/map/m
ap.pdf and the PAC is #18. PLEASE ARRIVE BY 8:15 TO ALLOW TIME TO
REGISTER AND RECEIVE YOUR PACKET. PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE LATE. We will
have information sessions in the morning, a brief student organization
fair, we will participate in an on-campus tradition with other new
students and meet the President of our university, a tentative free
catered lunch (vegetarian options) with faculty/staff, and sessions in
the afternoon before you will be released to your academic departments.
ATTENDANCE TO ALL SESSIONS IS MANDATORY.
Please make note of the above changes and we look forward to meeting you
in a few weeks.
