TED HANSEN CLAIMS 14TH STRAIGHT ASCAP AWARD

Texas A&M University-Commerce music professor and jazz pianist Dr. Ted
Hansen recently received his 14th consecutive award from the American
Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

The ASCAP gives awards based on the recipient's published works and
performances as well as media surveys and quality of composition work as
judged by the award panel. This year's award was based on some of
Hansen's recent performances, including "Cavatina for Flugelhorn and
Piano," "Elegy for Saxophone and Piano" and "String Quartet #2," among
others.

Hansen's work has been performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, the
Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington D.C. and on National
Education Television. 46 of Hansen's compositions have been published by
the Seesaw Music Corporation, a division of Subito Music Corporations.

At A&M-Commerce, Hansen teaches composition and orchestration courses,
as well as the graduate course "Architecture, Philosophy and Music."
