            Registration for the spring semester of 2010 opens this week;
the Journalism Division encourages all majors and minors in our programs to
register online and during this early period. Such registration enables the
Department to get a better picture of any concerns that may arise and any
adjustments that need to be considered.

In particular, please note these comments about spring classes.

            First, J314, J315, J336, J260 and J426 will be offered only
next spring. If you need these courses, enroll. For J426, see Dr. Bridges.
This is the public relations campaign class. Enrollment is limited.

Second, J495 or internship is open only to students with
approved on-site agreements. If you wish to undertake your internship in
the spring, see Dr. Bridges. If you need help, the faculty can suggest
possible openings or opportunities to pursue off-campus. Summer would be a
good time for your internship.

Third, we are offering a Special Topics class centered about
magazine journalism. Enrollment in the class requires approval and the
instructor¹s signature. You should express interest to Ms. Hannah Barton or
Dr. Bridges. This class will build on J115, in particular, so it is
advisable you have passed that course.

To anticipate questions, Dr. Bridges does not know what classes
will be considered for offering next summer. We have no budget figures. If
you have concerns, questions or comments, please address them to Dr.
Bridges.
            Thank you.
