Journalism students,

 

 

    1) Please take advantage of pre-registration for journalism courses for

the spring term of 2008.  Pre-registration totals help Dr.Hanners and I plan

or revise plans.  Please be sure you have the prerequisites for courses.

    In particular, any student wanting to sign for J495 needs to talk to Dr.

Bridges about the internship proposed.  If you do not have an approved

internship, you will be removed from the course.  An internship packet will

be available.

    As most students realize, we cannot offer each course each semester.

So, next spring, if you need the following classes, you should consider

them, viz., 314, 315, 260, 336, and 329.  Ms. Barton will offer J350, a

beginning class in photojournalism/photography.

    J445 can be used as an elective also.

    The schedule is on the web.

 

    2) Again, please be careful with personal objects such as purses, books,

coats et cetera, as there have been thefts about the campus.  We had one

minor incident in the building. And, I do not think it was a raccoon.

 

    3) We hope to have a new half-time administrative secretary in the main

office soon.  Ms. Brandy Martin, who did an excellent job for journalism,

accepted a position in the College of Education.

 

    4) Copies of The Dallas Morning News are being placed in the area

outside Mr. Stewart's office.  They are for the use of students in

journalism courses.  They should be helpful in reporting classes.
