Dear International Students,
Return to Campus for Fall 2020 semester
Hope summer is going well and you are staying safe. Time is moving fast and in less than two months you all will be thinking seriously and making plans to return to campus. For those in the U.S. at this time, returning to school in August is not complicated. Those who travelled home outside of the U.S. may have some hurdles to scale and that is why the Office of International Programs is contacting you so you are aware of these issues.
Please note that if you are currently in any of the countries with U.S. Travel Warnings, there may not be direct flights to the U.S. from your home country. The areas with travel warnings are on the CDC website under Travelers Prohibited from Entry to the United States: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.cdc.gov_coronavirus_2019-2Dncov_travelers_from-2Dother-2Dcountries.html&d=DwIFAg&c=oqyuZuih6ykib6aKiBq22_bich4AVfYGoLertJN0bEc&r=YxK6DXrxRSQuuEWUa-YFmF7VOPJK5cc3lgW8FEsEm-A&m=biqEgbFG-WKub8NKIJw25bI-h42JuhMZGcliP-B_ecE&s=l0lU-M5jTJStfwy86UdvvlGWhdNc0nQAqhI8OFaoxx8&e= . Continue to monitor this website. No direct flights to the U.S. may mean travelling first to a country without U.S. Travel Warning, before flying into the U.S. Travelling to such countries may mean quarantining for 14 days before being allowed to travel to the U.S.
According to the CDC website, international visitors are expected to also quarantine for 14 days from the time they arrive in the U.S. - Returning From International Travel: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.cdc.gov_coronavirus_2019-2Dncov_travelers_after-2Dtravel-2Dprecautions.html&d=DwIFAg&c=oqyuZuih6ykib6aKiBq22_bich4AVfYGoLertJN0bEc&r=YxK6DXrxRSQuuEWUa-YFmF7VOPJK5cc3lgW8FEsEm-A&m=biqEgbFG-WKub8NKIJw25bI-h42JuhMZGcliP-B_ecE&s=17vhNF0MnJrHM-pBL2S42j18Y2eoUSmKvBzWN5X0dcQ&e= . The totality of these actions may definitely make the return to the U.S. in August or earlier for student athletes very stressful. The Office of International Programs is raising awareness now so you consider these factors as you plan your return to campus in fall.
On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, there will be a meeting on campus to discuss many issues related to international students' return to campus in August. I will keep you informed with another email on June 24, 2020. In the meantime, please liaise with the U.S. Embassy or Consulate nearest to you at home for guidance on your return to campus. Also, feel free to email me with your questions. I will be in touch on June 24th definitely. Please do the research and stay safe! Go Lions!
